Elderly Lyme CT Man Busted for DWI on I-93
William Kadlec allegedly refused to leave his pickup for a field sobriety test, had to be pulled from the vehicle, and couldn't stand up.
DERRY, NH — A Connecticut man had to be physically removed from a vehicle yesterday for allegedly refusing to a field sobriety test after reportedly driving erratically on I-93, according to reports online. William Kadlec, 72, of Lyme, CT, was arrested on May 14, 2017, for driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest. According to Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography, a motorist reported to New Hampshire State Police that a pickup truck was “all over the road” and nearly caused “multiple accidents” on I-93 North.

A trooper pulled the vehicle over just north of Exit 4 in Derry and the driver allegedly refused to exit the vehicle. Lt. N. A. Noyes of the NHSP alleged that the driver showed signs of intoxicated so he was removed from the vehicle. Since the driver was allegedly unable to stand up, a trooper had to drag him to the breakdown lane to wait for backup. The driver – Kadlec – was later arrested.
