First EEE Infected Mosquito Reported in NH
The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services reports that one was found in Londonderry during recent testing.

The state of New Hampshire is reporting that a mosquito with Eastern Equine Encephalitis Virus or EEE, has been found in the state, specifically in a batch in Londonderry.
There have been no reports of West Nile Virus around the state, according to the report.
The find, according to officials, does not change the current low arboviral risk level for Londonderry. Officials added that it was important that people continue to take standard precautions against mosquito bites.

“This is approximately the same time we identified the first positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis as last year,” said Public Health Director Dr. José Montero. “Since we know that the agents that cause these diseases are here in New England, everyone should make it part of their routine to take precautions every time they go outside.”
In 2013, there were 27 positives for EEE, including 24 mosquito batches and three animals.
