Five Arrested at Sobriety Checkpoint in Londonderry
More than 260 vehicles checked, ranged from DWI to drug possession.

The New Hampshire State Police and the Londonderry Police Department held a sobriety checking point on Route 102 in Londonderry last night and arrested five on various charges, according to a press release.
- John Ramirez, 20, of Manchester, was arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol, open container, and possession of a controlled drug.
- William McCarthy, 44 of Derry, was arrested for operating after suspension.
- Derek Schlieff, 40 of Andover, MA, was arrested for DWI.
- Jose Cruze, 35 of Methuen, MA, was arrested for DWI.
- Mark Proia, 25 of Lawrence, MA, was arrested for DWI.

According to police, 265 vehicles were stopped and screened. Numerous warnings were also issued. The checkpoint was held between 9 p.m. on June 26, 2015, until 3 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, as part of law enforcement’s efforts to crack down on drunk drivers.

“The New Hampshire State Police, Colonel Robert Quinn and Londonderry Police Chief William Heart and the officers of their departments consider the detection and apprehension of impaired drivers to be a top priority,” Sgt. Steve Callinan said in a statement. “They will continue to collaborate and utilize sobriety checkpoints and other means to deter, detect and remove impaired drivers from New Hampshire’s roadways.”
