Five Things: Batten Down The Hatches
The Blizzard of 2013 (aka Nemo) is expected to drop as much as 2 feet of snow on Southern New Hampshire.

1) Nemo makes landfall. After a week of speculation, the snowstorm named Nemo is finally here. From today through Saturday, the storm is expected to drop anywhere from 14 to 24 inches of snow on Londonderry and the rest of Southern New Hampshire. Today's high will be 26 degrees, and tonight's low is 16.

3) School cancelled, deliberative session delayed. There is no school in Londonderry on Friday due to the storm. The School Deliberative Session originally scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. at Londonderry High School has also been postponed until Monday, Feb. 11 at the same time and place.

4) Who's running? The filing period for town and school offices closed on Feb. 1. If you missed it, here's our rundown of who filed for the various openings. Town Meeting Day is Tuesday, March 12.
5) On this day in 1943, Japanese troops evacuated Guadalcanal, leaving the island in Allied possession after a prolonged campaign. The American victory paved the way for other Allied wins in the Solomon Islands.
