Hamlett was at police headquarters around 4 p.m. for a meeting with detectives about a case. Before meeting with detectives, he allegedly took a cellphone of a person who was doing business with the records division in the lobby of the police department. When the man completed his business with records, he left. However, he soon realized that his phone was missing so he went back into the station to file a report.
“Detectives determined Hamlett was responsible for the theft and placed him into custody,” according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department. “A search incident to arrest ultimately located the Samsung Galaxy cell phone (valued at $500), a hypodermic needle, a burnt spoon and a Seroquel pill, which is a Schedule 2 drug.”
