Londonderry Crash On Interstate 93 North Turns Deadly, New Hampshire State Police Say

Troopers said a vehicle hit a bridge abutment, caught fire, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene on Wednesday.

LONDONDERRY, NH — A deadly crash on Interstate 93 northbound in Londonderry is under investigation by New Hampshire State Police after a vehicle struck a bridge abutment and caught fire Wednesday morning.

State troopers received reports of the crash just before 10:30 a.m. at the Route 102 overpass on I-93 north. It was reported that a vehicle crashed into a bridge abutment and caught fire.

When troopers arrived, they found good Samaritans who had stopped and tried to remove the driver from the vehicle, according to the release. Those bystanders were unsuccessful because of the severity of the crash and the fire. The good Samaritans also tried to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers.

Members of the Londonderry Fire Department extinguished the fire and pronounced the driver dead at the scene, according to state police. The driver's name and vehicle information are being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

The highway was closed for about four hours, according to state police.

Troopers were assisted on scene by members of the Londonderry Fire Department, the New Hampshire
Department of Transportation, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. All aspects of the crash remain under investigation, state police said.
