Londonderry Fire Saves Puppy During 2-Alarm Blaze

Mutual aid from Auburn, Bedford, Derry, Hudson, Litchfield, Manchester, Salem, Windham assisted; Goffstown, Merrimack, Pelham covered town.

LONDONDERRY, NH — Londonderry Fire and Rescue teams were called this week to a building fire on Chandler Street. At just after 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2018, the teams were sent to the blaze inside of a garage. After a second alarm was sounded, mutual aid from Auburn, Bedford, Derry, Hudson, Litchfield, Manchester, Salem, and Windham came to the scene to assist.

Goffstown, Merrimack, and Pelham teams covered the community during the incident.

“Companies went into a ‘transitional attack’ (and) companies quickly knocked down the main body of fire before advancing hose lines into the structure,” the Professional Fire Fighters of Londonderry, Local 3160, noted on Facebook.

Firefighters noted that a puppy was also pulled from the building by crews. The puppy – Gus – is still at the emergency veterinarian but is doing well and his outlook looks positive.
