Londonderry Weathers The Storm

Advance planning allowed the town to escape the blizzard unscathed.

Despite having about a foot and a half of snow dropped on it, Londonderry weathered the weekend blizzard with no major issues.

"Londonderry weathered the storm well," Acting Town Manager and Police Chief William Hart said in an email this morning

He said several things assisted the town in making it through so well.

"First the lengthy lead time allowed Fire Chief (Kevin) MacCaffrie to plan well," he said. "The light traffic and very early cancellations assisted, too. People were home and not on the road, thereby allowing plows to manage the storm throughout."

Hart said both MacCaffrie and the Department of Public Works deserve praise for making sure the town was well prepared and the roads cleared.
