Man Bagged with 53 Grams of Heroin on I-93

Shooting incident leads Manchester Police, U.S. Marshals to Christopher Martinez; he was also wanted for a stabbing incident in May.

Manchester Police responded to a shooting incident at 12:40 a.m. on Dec. 12. The victim was shot in the shoulder during a confrontation at her Merrimack Street address. Detectives made quick work of the case and less than 24 hours later; they had an arrest warrant for the person responsible for the shooting.

Members of the newly commissioned Urban Violence Working Group took part in the operation to locate and arrest the suspect; Christopher Martinez, 21, of Manchester.

Members of the of the United States Department of Justice-United States Marshall’s Task Force; detectives from the Manchester Special Enforcement Division-Special Investigative Unit and other detectives assigned to the Investigative Division took part in surveillance and apprehension of the shooting suspect.

They conducted a motor vehicle stop on I-93 at Exit 6 around 6 p.m. Martinez was the passenger in the 2003 Ford Windstar minivan and was taken into custody without incident.

A search was conducted and detectives located several items to include; a .380 caliber handgun (stolen out of Florida), heroin (53.4 grams), 5 separate prescription pills to include OxyCodone.

Martinez was charged with; First Degree Assault (Arrest Warrant) Possession of Controlled Drug with Intent to Distribute, 3 Counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug and Receiving Stolen Property and Violation of Bail stemming from a stabbing incident, which occurred on May 7.
