Mass. Man Arrested On Attempted Child Rape Charge

WAKEFIELD, MA — A Massachusetts man was arrested last week on charges after allegedly communicating with and attempting to line up a sexual encounter with a person he thought was a child, according to Derry Police. Robert Brown, 64, of Eastern Avenue in Wakefield, was arrested at 3:40 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2017, for certain uses of a computer service prohibited and attempted felonious sexual assault, both felonies. Brown was arrested at “a predetermined location” after allegedly arriving there “to meet who he thought was a 13-year-old male he had been communicating with online," according to police.

Brown was arraigned on Aug. 16, and held at the Rockingham Court House of Corrections on $50,000 cash bail. He will be back in court on Aug. 24, for a probable cause hearing.

Additional charges may be forthcoming since police are continuing to investigate the case.
