Matt Mowers: Chris Pappas Abandoned Law Enforcement, I Won't
The men and women of our law enforcement, and the people who depend on them, deserve to know that they have an ally in Washington

Chris Pappas Abandoned Law Enforcement. I won’t.
“During the pandemic, we were called heroes. Now, just a few months later, it feels as though the politicians are treating us as the enemy.”
I was struck by these words from one of our great police chiefs serving here in New Hampshire because it reminded me of cruel political whims to which our self-serving elected officials often subject the men and women who keep our communities safe. One minute, they have their arms wrapped around law enforcement, and the next, they’re standing with rioters trying to dismantle them.

That’s Chris Pappas in a nutshell. He’s our incumbent Democrat representative, who votes with Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time. He recently bragged about having voted to strip away their qualified immunity, which protects law enforcement and their families from frivolous lawsuits by the criminals they arrest.
Pappas campaigned as a bipartisan moderate, but Washington has clearly changed him. His despicable actions towards our law enforcement officers demonstrates that he spends more time on Capitol Hill than in Rochester. If he did, he’d hear from the one New Hampshire State Trooper who told me that he’s considering early retirement. If he did, he might also hear from the Manchester Police Officer, who hinted at mass retirements if this harassment of our law enforcement doesn’t stop. Make no mistake, this constant undermining of our law enforcement officers by Chris Pappas and the liberal mob will leave our communities at risk.

I’m a part of the generation who came of age during 9/11. I remember the bravery and ultimate sacrifice of our first responders, who ran into burning buildings that day to save Americans from all different walks of life. Watching those images on television as a kid forever impressed upon me the selflessness with which our law enforcement officers carry out their duties even on the very darkest of days. When faced with danger, they ran towards it.
Now, Nancy Pelosi, Chris Pappas, and radical liberals are running away from them — all to appease woke activists who would rather see our communities burn rather than build them up.
The men and women of our law enforcement, and the people who depend on them, deserve to know that they have an ally in Washington who won’t turn on them when the political winds change. It is my solemn promise to Granite Staters that I will have their backs just like they have always had ours.
