National Weather Service Issues Flood Watch

Heavy rains, previous snowmelt could cause issues through Tuesday night around the Granite State.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for nearly all of New Hampshire, including Hillsborough, Merrimack, and Rockingham counties.

A low-pressure system developing off the Atlantic coast is expected to move northeast and hit the state on Monday night or Tuesday morning.

“At this time, it looks though this low will produce anywhere between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain across much of the area,” according to the alert, “with locally higher amounts possible.”

Runoff combined with additional snowmelt from the northern part of the state and already high river levels “will keep the threat for flooding going through at least Tuesday night.”

Some rivers could break and overflow; urban and poor drainage areas should also expect flooding issues.
