MANCHESTER, NH — A New Hampshire man with a lengthy criminal history was found guilty on drug dealing and gun possession charges on Thursday.
Vincent Chaney, 49, of Manchester was found guilty on seven counts of felon in possession of a firearm and a single count of possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell-subsequent, all felonies, after a two-day trial in Hillsborough County Superior Court North. He was originally arrested by Manchester’s Special Enforcement Division on Jan. 31, 2020, after a search warrant of his home during which time police found more than 76 grams of crack cocaine was found as well as seven loaded guns.

Chaney faces between 10 and 30 years in prison for each felon in possession charge and life in prison on the crack cocaine dealing charge.
“This case serves as another example of the dedication and hard work Manchester detectives do each day,” Chief Allen Aldenberg of the Manchester Police Department said in a statement. “As a result of this investigation, we were able to remove seven illegally possessed firearms from the community. It is my hope that this will serve as a deterrent to those who illegally possess firearms as the consequences for doing so are significant.”

Chaney’s criminal history dates back to the 1990s including drug possession and other charges, and later, a probation violation. He has been arrested on drug and gun possession charges around the central part of the state. He also has a prior drug-dealing conviction, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. In 2002, Chaney was found guilty on a felony habitual offender charge after an incident in Nashua. He pleaded guilty to shoplifting in Manchester in September 2009. Chaney has an active insurance fraud case, too, in superior court, on four felony counts out of Manchester from January 2019. Jury selection is expected to begin on Sept. 9.
