MANCHESTER, NH — Police in the state’s largest city are asking for the public’s help locating a man accused of assaulting a woman with a gun and firing it into the ground on Sunday.

Police were sent to Hayward Street around 4 a.m. for a report of gunshots in the area. When they arrived, they found a woman bleeding from the forehead, according to Heather Hamel, the public information officer for the department.

“Through the investigation,” she said, “police learned that the victim had been outside with a man she knew when he hit her in the head with a gun. He also fired the weapon into the ground.”
