At around 11 p.m. last night, a trooper attempted to pull over a Chevrolet Silverado pickup on I-93 north in Salem for “operating with defective equipment and being involved in suspicious activity in the Salem Rest Area,” according to a press statement.
The pickup reportedly failed to stop and the trooper pursued the vehicle as it exited I-93 at Exit 1 and continued to elude troopers and local police through a number of communities.

“The pursuit continued northbound off of the interstate through the towns of Salem, Windham, Derry, and Londonderry,” according to Lt. Nathan Noyes. “The suspect vehicle avoided spike strips and at one point extinguished its headlights and drove head-on at fully marked state police cruisers causing each of them to drive off of the roadway to avoid a collision.”
The truck reportedly continued on Route 102 west in Derry and then got back on I-93 north at Exit 4. The pickup later came to a stop near Mile Marker 12.6 in Londonderry while the driver fled the scene.
A NHSP K-9 unit was called in and the driver, Ross, was arrested.
Ross was taken to the hospital for a dog bite and pre-existing medical conditions, according to state police. He refused bail and is expected to be arraigned today.
