NHSP Investigation: Fatal, Fiery Crash on I-93

Breaking: After striking two vehicles, Dodge Ram pickup truck with out of state plates drives off an embankment, explodes into flames.

MANCHESTER, NH — Details are limited at post time about a major crash on I-93 reportedly involving three vehicles and a fiery end of life to one of the drivers, according to alerts online. New Hampshire State Police were called to reports of a Dodge Ram pickup truck striking two vehicles on the northbound side of I-93 at just before 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 27, 2016, according to alerts.

According to Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography, who also runs the Manchester Information Facebook site, state police are reporting that the driver of the pickup truck stopped after the crash, spoke to the other drivers, and then fled the scene.

A BOLO – “be on the lookout” – alert for the vehicle was reported with troopers catching up to the vehicle near Exit 5 on the northbound side of the highway. The pickup truck – according to Capt. Ferry of the NHSP – was operating in an erratic manner, at a high rate of speed, before it left the roadway near the I-93 and I-293 interchange, went down an embankment, and burst into flames.

The crash scene left about a 30 feet debris field, according to Hastings.

The crash scene was cleared at around 9:30 a.m., according to NH DOT.
