Police: Man Punched Woman in Face, Left Her and Baby Out in Hurricane

Eric S. Fox is facing eight counts of simple assault and one count of drug possession.

A Greenville man is facing eight counts of assault after police say he repeatedly punched a woman in the face while driving in a car on Monday and then left her and her baby out in the rain and wind of Hurricane Sandy.

Eric S. Fox, 28, of 54 River Road, Apt. #5, Greenville, is charged with eight counts of simple assault and one count of possession of drugs in a motor vehicle.

According to the Londonderry police log, the arrest was made after an officer on patrol happened upon a woman walking on the side of Londonderry Road in the rain and wind, carrying a baby and crying.

Police said she had allegedly been assaulted by Fox inside a vehicle moments earlier. A description of the suspect was broadcast to nearby police officers, and Fox was found shortly after at the Sunoco station on Route 102.

"The victim stated she was punched at least eight times in the face and back of the head area by Fox," reads the police log.

The woman and her baby were taken to Parkland Medical Center in Derry for evaluation.

Fox was ordered held on $5,000 bail and scheduled for arraignment in Derry District Court today.
