New Hampshire State Police will be charging a Nashua man after a multi-vehicle crash on I-93 North in Salem earlier today.

Stanley Syrek, 53, of Nashua, will be charged with DUI-drugs, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of narcotic drugs, and transportation of narcotic drugs.

Syrek was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty with his juvenile son as a passenger in the vehicle and allegedly “began to overdose on heroin.” He reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the Exit 1 off-ramp sign.

“The vehicle then continued north at a high rate of speed,” according to Sgt. Bryan Trask. “The vehicle crashed into the rear of a second vehicle, causing the second vehicle to crash into the rear of a third vehicle.”

After Salem Fire and Rescue teams arrived, they allegedly found Syrek unconscious and sitting in the driver’s seat. They were able to revive him with Narcan and he was transported later to Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.

“Due to the fact that Syrek was at a hospital in Massachusetts, he will be charged at a later date,” according to Trask.

At post time, there was no other information about the occupants of the other vehicles.
