Quick Thinking Cop Saves Local Model from Crash: Report

Taya Ethier of Londonderry was arrested on a drug charge after police allegedly find her passed out behind the wheel of a rolling vehicle.

MANCHESTER, NH - A local woman is lucky to be alive today after the actions of a Manchester Police officer stopping her vehicle may have saved her life.

Taya Ethier, 29, of Londonderry, was arrested on Jan. 19, 2016, and charged with possession of a controlled drug.

According to police, at 12:05 a.m. an officer reportedly saw a woman passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle on South Jewett Street as the vehicle started rolling south toward Weston Road prompting the officer to take action.

The officer ran up to the vehicle, slid into the driver’s seat, and as he woke the woman up, slammed his foot on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department.

The officer spoke with Ethier, the only person in the car, and a model with ExploreTalent.com, and after a brief investigation – that allegedly yielded 0.6 grams of marijuana on the seat of the vehicle – she was arrested on a possession charge.

Ethier was released on $500 personal recognizance bail and is due in court on Feb. 24.

In 2013, according to the Newburyport News, she was arrested in Amesbury for driving while intoxicated.
