School Officials to Cut $300K from School Security Plan
School officials say they'll propose an amendment to the warrant article at the Feb. 8 School Deliberative Session.

Londonderry school officials are seeking to cut the cost of proposed school security improvements by nearly $300,000, according to the Union Leader.
It's too late to alter the wording of , but School Business Administrator Peter Curro said Tuesday that school officials will look to amend the article to $170,000 at the Feb. 8 School Deliberative Session. The hope is that some of the increased security measures can be funded through the regular operating budget.

Several parents at a Londonderry School Board meeting held after the Newtown, CT shootings urged the board to consider additional security measures in local schools.
Some of the security enhancements that have been suggested are:

- Installing a card access system district-wide
- Securing outside entry before and during school hours
- Monitoring outside doors
- Improving communications by providing enhanced radio equipment and installing panic buttons
- Supporting an additional School Resource Officer in school buildings
- Ongoing training with the Londonderry Police Department
