Splattered Blood Mystery Solved in Londonderry

It took a few weeks, but police and investigators have determined why there was a large pool of blood at the Crossroads Plaza.

LONDONDERRY, NH — A large pool of blood that was found earlier this month at the Crossroads Plaza is now believed to be deer blood, according to tests performed by the police.

Back on July 8, 2016, police were sent to the cluster of stores for a report of a potential crime scene – a large pool of blood in front of one of the businesses.

“There was also a trail of blood starting from a nearby ATM, ultimately leading to the large pool of blood,” according to Det. Chris Olson of the Londonderry Police Department. “A preliminary test of the blood revealed that it was mammal blood, however further tests were needed to determine if it was human blood. Based on the totality of the circumstances, this was investigated as a potential major crime.”

Police looked into a number of leads but after more tests, they found out that the blood was not human blood. They also found out that a large deer had been struck and killed by a vehicle in the area of Route 102 and Mammoth Road.

“Based on the investigation, it has been determined that the deceased deer was the cause of the blood in the Crossroads Plaza,” he stated. “This incident was investigated as a potential crime and given the same set of circumstances again, it would be investigated the same way.”
