Taking the Plunge

Londonderry played its part in the High School and Penguin plunges at Hampton Beach over the weekend.

Londonderry was well represented at the High School and Penguin plunges held at Hampton Beach over the weekend.

Londonderry Police Lt. Tim Jones took part in Sunday's fourth annual Hampton Beach Penguin Plunge. He's participated each year the event has been held.

"Here is a photo of me after I came out of the VERY cold ocean," Jones said in an email this morning, which included the attached photo. "It was a great day. My whole family plunged. We raised about $1,500 for (Special Olympics)."

Londonderry High School students and faculty were among those participating in Saturday's fifth annual High School Plunge. We've attached a photo Tweeted out by the Londonderry High School Twitter feed of the students who took the plunge.

Each event has been a successful fundraiser for Special Olympics New Hampshire for years, and last year's installments of the high school and regular events raised $179,688 and $508,692, respectively.
