
A Litchfield teen was killed Wednesday night when her car crashed through the guardrail on Route 101 and rolled down an embankment.
State police said the single-car accident occurred at 10:34 p.m. on Route 101 in Auburn. A 2005 Saturn Ion driven by Tia Mavrogeorge, 17, of Litchfield collided with the guardrail on the left side of the highway, then veered across the road and struck the guardrail on the right side of the highway. The car broke through the guardrail and rolled down the embankment, coming to rest in the area of Tower Hill Road. Mavrogeorge was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.
A male passenger in the vehicle, Patrick Devine, 23, of Manchester, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for treatment.

The right lane of Route 101 in this area was closed for several hours as state police investigated and the guardrail was repaired.
Assisting state police were Auburn Police, Candia Police, Auburn Fire, Derry Fire and the state Department of Transportation.
