The Derryfield School Players present RENT: School Edition.

MANCHESTER – The Derryfield School Players are pleased to present RENT: School Edition.  RENT took Broadway by storm when it opened in 1996, exactly 100 years after the debut of La Boheme, the Puccini opera on which the story is based.  Set in New York City in the late 1980s, the story follows a year in the lives of a group of East Village artists, who not only must deal with the harsh realities of daily life, but are also confronting the new plague of the age, HIV/AIDS.  Filled with powerful and haunting themes, it is at the same time bursting with the hopeful optimism at the core of every classic American musical.

RENT: School Edition will be presented in the Performing Arts Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on both Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15, as well as a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 16.  Tickets are available for $12 apiece at www.etix.com.  Remaining tickets will be sold at the auditorium ticket booth starting one hour before each show.

The Friday production will be held in conjunction with a reception for photographer Robert Janules and painter Richard Widhu, whose works are on display in The Derryfield School Lyceum Gallery show A SHARED VISION from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
