Town Clerk Steps Down After 13+ Years

Today is Meg Seymour's last day on the job.

After more than 13 years on the job, Friday is Meg Seymour's last day as Londonderry Town Clerk.

Seymour announced earlier this month that she would be resigning as of June 28. She hasn't said why she is stepping down, only that her decision was based on "personal reasons." She was just re-elected in March.

At the Town Council's June 17 meeting, a tearful Seymour thanked the council, Acting Town Manager William Hart, town department heads and staff and the residents of Londonderry for their support. Hart praised Seymour for doing "yeoman's work," and said the town will miss "her work and her smile every day."

Seymour is expected to be replaced, at least temporarily, by Deputy Town Clerk Kathleen Donnelly.

In an email earlier this week, Hart said the replacement of a town clerk is governed by state statute, and allows for the appointment of the properly appointed deputy clerk for a 30 day period, at the end of which the council will appoint a successor who shall serve until the next annual election in March of 2014.
