Council to Hold Meeting on Firing Range Noise

Session will be held on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 4:30 p.m.

The Town Council will hold a special meeting next week at the Londonderry Country Club to explore concerns about noise from nearby firing ranges.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 4:30 p.m. at the country club at 56 Kimball Road. Members of the Police Department will also be in attendance.

The purpose of the meeting is to examine the concerns brought forth by Tom Kimball, the owner of the Londonderry Country Club, regarding the issue of gunfire noise from the two shooting ranges in the area. One of these ranges is on property owned by Continental Paving and is operated by the Londonderry Police Department, and the other is the Londonderry Fish and Game Club.

The issue was first raised by Kimball at a Sept. 10 Town Council meeting. Kimball said the noise from the two firing ranges is "disrupting the peace and dignity of the residents" and affecting his club.

Londonderry Fish and Game Club President Rick Olson, meanwhile, said his club is not at fault, and that the noise being heard is likely from people shooting in the Musquash Conservation Area or power line corridors.

The Oct. 4 council meeting is open to the public, and anyone with concerns about this issue is urged to attend. Londonderry Cable Access will also be filming the proceedings.
