Tupelo Announces Four New Shows

We have FOUR new Londonderry shows to announce this week!

January 10 ALAN DOYLE OF GREAT BIG SEA: In 1993, he joined forces with fellow pub warriors Sean McCann, Bob Hallett, and Darrell Power, and together they started Great Big Sea, where they fused Newfoundland traditional music with their own pop sensibilities. Doyle assumed the role of lead singer, and the band-mates began to assault the music business from their Newfoundland base. 19 years later, the band continues to astonish crowds around the world with their energy, musical skill and an ingrained inability to take themselves too seriously. A major band in Canada for a generation, their nine albums and two DVD releases have been declared Gold or Platinum. In the United States they are considered a major concert attraction, and play sold out theatres and hockey arenas across the continent. With the release of Boy On Bridge, his new album, Alan enters a new phase of his career. After almost 20 years with Great Big Sea, he is stepping out on his own. Listen

March 15 JEFFERSON STARSHIP: Founders PAUL KANTNER & DAVID FREIBERG lead an all-star band into their 40th year. Along for the ride are longtime drummer DONNY BALDWIN, Grammy nominated Broadway star CATHY RICHARDSON, lead guitarist SLICK AGUILAR, keyboardist CHRIS SMITH & multi-instrumentalist JEFF PEVAR from PHIL LESH & FRIENDS and CSN. April 20 PAUL D’ANGELO DVD RECORDING SHOW: Comedian Paul D’Angelo is having two shows at Tupelo on this day. Show times are 7:00 and 9:30. Each show will be recorded, the end result being a new DVD of Paul’s live work.

May 4 CARL PALMER: Carl Palmer is perhaps best known as a founding member of Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) and Asia. He is also one of the most respected drummers in rock and roll history. As part of his North American tour, Palmer will serve up an evening of classic ELP music in a show that will last nearly two hours. Joining Mr. Palmer onstage will be guitarist Paul Bielatowicz and bassist Simon Fitzpatrick. If you attended last year’s show at Tupelo, you know it promises to be one of the most musically compelling live shows of 2011.
