Tupelo Announces Four New Shows

Alejandro Escovedo is among the new acts booked at the Londonderry music hall.

We have FOUR new Londonderry shows to announce this week!

January 18 JUANITO PASCUAL: Guitarist Juanito Pascual has been called "one of the hottest flamenco guitarists in recent years" by National Public Radio, a major accolade which in Pascual's case is just the jumping off point for the Minneapolis native's musical vision. Pascual's sound is a truly organic blend of his mastery of traditional and contemporary flamenco with his love of heroes ranging from Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis, to the Grateful Dead and J.S. Bach. His latest project, the Juanito Pascual New Flamenco Trio, showcases both Pascual's prowess in the traditional flamenco idiom as well as his innovative approach to this evolving art form. He is joined by master musicians Jose Moreno on Percussion and bassist Brad Barrett to round out this truly exhilarating and one of a kind ensemble.

January 19 THE BREW: The Brew is an American independent rock band founded in the small town of Amesbury, Massachusetts by high school friends. Brothers Chris and Joe Plante joined guitarist Dave Drouin and drummer Kelly Kane in 2002. Kane left the band in 2012 and was replaced by longtime fan and drummer Aaron Zaroulis. Opening for Bruce Hornsby in 2006, The Brew met Bobby Read, producer and saxophonist for Hornsby's band. On the spot, The Brew and Read decided to do a record together, resulting in 2008's Back to the Woods, with singles like "Chance Reaching" (still spinning on Sirius XM radio) lifted the band to national exposure. "When Darkness Comes," is a song now spinning on AAA radio stations across the country.

February 10 TUPELO NEW ARTIST SHOWCASE: Tupelo Music Hall's nationally recognized Open Mic series has attracted some of the region's most promising talent to our stage each month. Over the past 8 years we have watched as some of our Open Mic veterans have gone on to become features artists around the country. On Sunday, February 10th, we will present a very special evening with an amazing roster of newer performers on the scene. This show will be recorded for a Tupelo Compilation CD and a video crew will also be on hand! Artists include: Dale Reynolds, Ashley Jordan, Tristan Osmand, Joe Young, WT “Snake” Miller, Mae Danger, MB Padfield, John Emery, Charlie Christos, Anna Dagmar, Jonee Earthquake, Chelsea Berry, and Marina Evans.

April 6 ALEJANDRO ESCOVEDO: Alejandro Escovedo is one with his muse and his music. Over a lifetime spent traversing the bridge between words and melody, he has ranged over an emotional depth that embraces all forms of genre and presentation, a resolute voice that weathers the emotional terrain of our lives, its celebrations and despairs, landmines and blindsides and upheavals and beckoning distractions, in search for ultimate release and the healing truth of honesty. Sometimes it takes the form of barely contained rage, the rock of punk amid kneeled feedback; sometimes it caresses and soothes, a whispery harmony riding the air of a nightclub room, removed from amplification, within the audience.
