Tupelo Announces Two New Shows

Sixpence None The Richer, Denny Laine are the latest bookings.

We have TWO new Londonderry shows to announce this week!

February 2 SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER: Sixpence None the Richer (also known as Sixpence) is an American rock/pop band that formed in New Braunfels, Texas, eventually settling in Nashville, Tennessee. They are best known for their songs “Kiss Me” and “Breathe Your Name” and their covers of “Don’t Dream It’s Over” and “There She Goes”. Since forming in 1993, the Nashville-based band (started by Slocum and singer Leigh Nash), has released four albums, scored several hit singles ("Kiss Me," "There She Goes," "Don't Dream It's Over" and "Breathe Your Name"), appeared on seemingly a million soundtracks, landed a platinum record and even earned a few Grammy nominations. But the band amicably parted ways in 2004, shortly after releasing their last full-length record, Divine Discontent. The "transition" had begun. After a few outside ventures and solo albums, the band thankfully reunited. Listen

March 30 DENNY LAINE and THE CRYERS: At the height of the British invasion, Denny Laine was one of the most recognizable voices on the entire British music scene. As the lead singer on the Moody Blues’ recording of “Go Now” — a worldwide multi-million seller — he stood out in a large pack, and did so splendidly. His soulful, agonized lead vocal performance, coupled with Mike Pinder’s chiming piano, proved irresistible on the radio. After leaving the Moody Blues, Laine’s next major gig was as a member of Ginger Baker’s Air Force, a big-band rock outfit that was a partial offshoot of Blind Faith. Following this musical excursion Laine joined forces with Paul McCartney and Wings. The group was led by McCartney (joined by his wife Linda McCartney) on bass, guitar, piano, and vocals, with Laine at the core on guitar, bass, and vocals combined with his incredible talent for songwriting, solidified their place in rock history as one of the biggest selling acts of the 1970s. When Wings disbanded, Laine took a step back from the spotlight to work on several solo albums. Denny spent the last few months touring the east coast. Denny performed the Cutting Room in NYC, where he played an acoustic set and a set with the band. Willie Nelson came to see the show. See him perform live at Tupelo with The Cryers. Listen
