Windham Terrace Hosts Firefighter Appreciation Breakfast
Windham Terrace Assisted Living invited local heroes to their community to show appreciation to the firemen.
To pay respect to the local heroes who work so hard to care for the community of Windham, the residents and staff at Windham Terrace Assisted Living prepared a pancake breakfast for the Windham Fire Department with a heart-felt twist. With both Valentine’s Day and American Heart Month during the month of February, the community decided it was a perfect time to show the crew their thanks “straight from the heart.” At the event, the firefighters enjoyed heart-shaped pancakes and received handwritten notes of thanks from the residents and staff. The community relies on the firemen and their services throughout the year and look forward to this event to show their appreciation.
“These firemen work so hard to keep us safe year-round, and we wanted to say ‘thank you’ for everything they do to not only protect us, but to keep the Windham community safe,” said Lynda Brislin, Windham Terrace executive director. “Especially during the hard New Hampshire winters, we feel it is important to pay tribute and support our local heroes.”
Jim Folan, a resident at Windham Terrace, was a firefighter in Massachusetts for 34 years and retired as a captain. He recalls how important community support is in keeping up the crew’s morale up throughout the year.

“They do a great job, and they deserve to be thanked,” said Folan. “I love the opportunity to hear their stories and share my own stories from my firefighting days. I know from experience that you’re not always thanked for your time, but special events like this can really have an impact on the crew’s spirits.”
The residents and staff continually look for small ways to make a big impact in their community. The community hopes they were able to bring smiles to the firefighters’ faces and let them know how much each and every resident cares about them.
