Woodmont Traffic at Issue
Residents are starting to express concerns about the massive development.

As the Woodmont Commons development continues to make its way through the planning process, the amount of traffic the project would generate is becoming a critical issue.
According to the Derry News, Woodmont's developers spoke to the Planning Board earlier this month about the issue of traffic. Traffic engineers said traffic on Hardy Road would increase by about 40 cars in the morning and 70 at night, and traffic on Hovey Road would increase by 9 to 19 cars in the morning and 13 to 28 at night, depending on whether Exit 4A is completed. Currently, about 300 cars use both roads during peak hours.
Some residents have questioned the validity of those numbers, however. And the Union Leader reports residents are starting to ask more questions about the project in general. Resident Jack Falvey sent a letter to Town Council Chairman John Farrell last week expressing his concerns about the way the town has handled the Woodmont application process.

The massive Woodmont Commons development calls for the construction of up to 1,300 homes, three hotels and 800,000 square feet of commercial space on 600 acres in Londonderry.
The project is so large that it has been broken into multiple stages, to be reviewed over many months by the Planning Board. The town has set up a section on its website with all of the latest information on the development. The Woodmont Commons Planned Unit Development (PUD) page includes links to materials provided by developers to the town, the Woodmont Master Plan, Planning Board meeting minutes and more.
