Yin Yoga & Mindful Eating (With Ecuadorian Chocolate)

In this class-style workshop, you will practice awareness through mindfulness meditation, first through a sequence of Yin Yoga postures and then later by eating chocolate* with awareness. Mindfulness Meditation involves paying full attention to the food and tastes, sounds, feelings, sights and smells associated with eating. Eating is part of our daily routine and for some people the choice of food is made without paying attention. Mindfulness meditation eating aims to slow down this process by encouraging you to sit down and be attentive to the process of eating. It allows you to become more aware of the positive and nurturing properties that food provides and use all the senses to explore food.

Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine as well as the energetic channels of the meridians, nerve and blood system. We practice each pose in stillness for about 3-5 minutes. The prolonged time in each pose gives muscles ample time to relax so that we can focus on stretching and strengthening ligaments, bones and joints, which are not exercised very much in a more active style of yoga. Yin Yoga is loved by athletes, both experienced and new yogis and even those with restricted mobility. All levels are welcome. Cost: $20
