Every two seconds in the United States, someone needs blood and the vast majority of those life-saving donations are collected in community blood drives. As part of its ongoing commitment to a healthier community, the YMCA of Greater Londonderry (YGL) is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The drive, which is open to Y members and the community, will be held in the multi-purpose room at the YMCA at 206 Rockingham Road in Londonderry.
“We’re pleased to host this event with our friends at the American Red Cross,” said Lance Kennedy, the YGL’s Branch Director. “The need for donated blood is always important, but particularly at this time of year when supplies are low”
Kennedy added that all who donate on the 26th will receive special gifts from the YMCA, free passes to the SEE Science Center and refreshments from the American Red Cross. While walk-ins will be welcome, pre-registration is encouraged. Please visit redcrossblood.org and enter the code “03053” to enroll.
