Weather forecast:
• 40 Below Summer Recruit Guitarist Anthony Bordonaro (metalanarchy.com) — Metal band 40 Below Summer has added guitarist Anthony Bordonaro and is heading out on tour, including a stop in Manchester at Jewel Music Venue on May 16. Fans here will be among the first to see the new lineup live. The band says they’ve been working hard on the show and hope locals come welcome their new member in person.
• House panel wants Sununu Center sale money to go into the state treasury (unionleader.com) — State lawmakers are debating where to send $75–$80 million from the eventual sale of the Sununu Youth Services Center in Manchester, with a key House panel voting to steer it into the state treasury instead of the victim settlement fund. Republicans argue this keeps future flexibility, while Democrats warn it could shortchange abuse survivors. The full House Finance Committee takes up the bill next Monday, and a House-Senate showdown is likely.
• Lawmakers to make calls on raising tolls, more fees for lakes, open enrollment reform (unionleader.com) — Major decisions this week in Concord could shape driving and schooling for Manchester residents, including toll hikes that would help fund reconstruction of Exits 6 and 7 on I‑293. Lawmakers will also vote on higher lake-related fees and a controversial open enrollment plan letting students attend any public school statewide. Gov. Kelly Ayotte has raised concerns about both toll increases and the school choice proposal.
