The historic red street boxes, once vital to protecting mills, schools, and neighborhoods, have been steadily removed as technology advanced and maintenance became costly. Officials say the new setup is more reliable and easier to maintain.
2. Cold case unit seeks public's help in solving teen's disappearance in 1980 (therochestervoice.com) — Manchester police and the state’s Cold Case Unit are renewing their push for information on 14-year-old Laureen Rahn, who disappeared from her Merrimack Street home in 1980. Investigators are using modern forensic tools and specifically want to hear from former neighbors, classmates, and anyone who knew Laureen in Manchester at that time.
3. Manchester man charged with 10 offenses after allegedly stealing Subaru, leading lawmen on chase (unionleader.com) — A 33-year-old Manchester resident faces 10 charges after police say he led troopers on a 105-mph chase in a reportedly stolen Subaru, with impairment suspected. The pursuit started after a BOLO from Hillsborough, continued from I-89 through Henniker, and ended on Bacon Road, where he was arrested and held pending arraignment.
4. Miss New Hampshire, Miss New Hampshire's Teen 2026 crowned (unionleader.com) — A Manchester teen, Kendall Laroche, has been crowned Miss New Hampshire’s Teen 2026 after competing in Derry and showcasing a lyrical dance. The Trinity High School sophomore earned a $5,000 scholarship and will spend the year promoting breast cancer awareness, while Miss New Hampshire winner Lauren Plank of Durham advances with her to national competitions.
5. Giuliani breathing on his own after ventilator removal, doctor says (tippahnews.com) — Rudy Giuliani is now breathing on his own after being removed from a ventilator, with his doctor expecting a full recovery. For Manchester residents, officials note he previously suffered serious injuries in an August 2025 rear-end crash on I-93 in Manchester which left him with spinal and other trauma.
