Weather forecast:
1. Pedals & Pathways: The Bus Buddies Program and the Manchester Transit Authority (inklink.news) — If you’ve ever been unsure how to use Manchester’s buses, this guide walks you through passes, fares, routes, and even free options like the Green Dash downtown circulator. It explains accessibility features, security measures, and regional services, plus how the Bus Buddy Program and mobility manager can personally help Manchester riders learn the system and reach key destinations like hospitals and supermarkets.
2. Bonfire Country Bar won't reopen in Manchester (unionleader.com) — A well-known Elm Street spot, Bonfire Restaurant and Country Bar, will not reopen in downtown Manchester after severe water damage from a burst pipe just before Christmas. Its large 944–950 Elm St. space is now up for lease, offering a rare, highly visible downtown location that could host a new restaurant, retail shop, fitness studio, or offices.
3. Nickenley Turenne's Family, Advocates Keep Fighting for Information About His Death (indepthnh.org) — Family members and advocates gathered outside Manchester City Hall to keep public attention on the December police shooting of 24-year-old Nickenley Turenne and to demand more information from investigators. They’re pressing for transparency from Manchester officials and the New Hampshire Department of Justice as the officer-involved deadly force investigation continues months after the incident.
4. Lacking support for tax cap override, Manchester aldermen table vote on budget (unionleader.com) — Manchester’s 2027 city budget is on hold after aldermen tabled a proposal that needed 10 votes to override the tax cap and allow an 8.2% property tax increase. The Burkush–Trisciani plan would restore cuts in Mayor Ruais’s tax-cap budget, fund police and fire vacancies, and keep the West Manchester Branch Library open, with the next board meeting set for June 2.
5. Manchester teen graduates high school while starring on Broadway (wmur.com) — A 19-year-old from Manchester has leapt from local stages like the Palace and Majestic theaters to starring as Henry Creel in the Broadway prequel “Stranger Things: The First Shadow.” He finished his senior year online in just five months while performing, even celebrating a surprise cap-and-gown graduation arranged by his guardian, and now hopes to make acting his full-time career.
