📰 News we're reading

1. After Ayotte, Stephen Push Back, Easterseals Reverses Senior Care Cuts (patch.com) — Manchester seniors who rely on Easterseals' adult day center just got a reprieve, as the nonprofit reversed its plan to close the Manchester and Rochester programs after pushback from state leaders. Services in Manchester and in-home care in Hillsborough County will continue for now, though long-term funding and Medicaid reimbursement rates remain unresolved and could affect the program's future stability.

2. State Police Release Limited Details About Chaotic Scene At SYSC That Led To Trooper And Juvenile Taken To Hospital (patch.com) — An incident at Manchester's Sununu Youth Services Center sent a state trooper and one juvenile to the hospital and renewed attention on safety, staffing, and body-camera use at the facility. State officials, an Executive Councilor, and U.S. Rep. Maggie Goodlander all weigh in as the state pursues reforms and considers selling the Manchester SYSC property, with the city's mayor forming a task force on its future.

3. From sophomore starters to junior leaders, Jaimes, Plante highlight hardworking Central football team (unionleader.com) — Manchester Central's football team is leaning on junior leaders quarterback Drake Jaimes and lineman Matthew Plante, who grew up playing together for the Manchester East Cobras. After a hard-working offseason in the weight room and with private QB training, they're aiming to turn around last year's 3–6 record as Central opens its Division I season Friday night at Gill Stadium.

4. In 2nd District Republican debate, candidates blast Goodlander over 'illegal orders' video (wmur.com) — Republican candidates for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District used a Manchester debate to sharply criticize Rep. Maggie Goodlander over her role in a video about refusing illegal military orders. They argued she shouldn't return to Congress, while Goodlander is leaning into the controversy with a new TV ad featuring veterans defending her stance.

5. Ticker: Rest stop unrest in NH (bostonherald.com) — A Manchester developer is part of the team the state reportedly favored to rebuild the busy I-95 liquor store rest areas in Hampton, but that award is now tied up in court. Common Man Roadside is suing the New Hampshire Liquor Commission in Merrimack Superior Court, challenging the decision that appears to benefit Manchester developer Dick Anagnost and partner Global Partners.
