1. Manchester declares an end to veteran homelessness after housing 136 veterans (wmur.com) — Manchester officials say the city has effectively ended veteran homelessness after a 2024 initiative helped place 136 veterans into permanent housing. While leaders stress veterans may still face housing struggles, they argue the new system now reliably connects those experiencing homelessness with support, and Mayor Jay Ruais hopes to apply the same lessons to other vulnerable groups.
2. Granite State Comicon lands in Manchester Sept. 19-20: Heroes, villains and Ninja Turtles » Nashua Ink Link (inklink.news) — Manchester residents can dive into two full days of comics, cosplay, and celebrity guests when Granite State Comicon returns downtown Sept. 19-20 at the DoubleTree and SNHU Arena. With big-name actors, the co-creator of the Ninja Turtles, kids' activities, gaming, and after-parties, organizers expect fans from around the world but say it's still very much a homegrown Manchester convention.
3. Joey Chestnut takes on chicken tenders at Manchester stadium (wmur.com) — Joey Chestnut just visited Manchester's Delta Dental Stadium, where he downed 50 buffalo chicken tenders in under five minutes to win a special eating contest. The event marked the 50th anniversary of the chicken tender, first created in 1974 at Manchester's own Puritan Backroom, giving the celebration a distinctly local flavor.
4. Watch 'Conversation with the Candidate' with Cinde Warmington (wmur.com) — From a Manchester studio, WMUR's "Conversation with the Candidate" features Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Cinde Warmington fielding voter questions on housing, school vouchers, child care, and more. She argues affordable housing is New Hampshire's most critical issue and outlines plans to leverage federal dollars, regulate private equity's role in housing, and reshape state policy if elected.
