  1. School districts in New Hampshire are participating in job fairs and offering signing bonuses due to unprecedented staffing shortages. After two years of the pandemic and political battles over schools, some New Hampshire districts say they have an unprecedented number of open positions to fill for the 2022-2023 school year. Manchester, the state’s largest school district, is offering $1,000 signing bonuses to paraprofessionals and an additional $500 if they stay for a certain length of time. The district is holding an in-person job fair on May 7. You can read the full story here: (NHPR)
  2. Manchester's William Hartery took charge of the stage in the “The Producers,” a madcap Mel Brooks comedy that opened at the Palace Theatre this past weekend. Hartery plays the lead character, Max Bialystock, a floundering Broadway producer. Carol Robidoux of Manchester Ink Link wrote that Hartery "brought his own big personality and precise comic timing to the role." “The Producers” is showing at the Palace Theatre through May 15. Stay Work Play, a New Hampshire nonprofit that finds ways to attract young people to "stay, work, and play" in New Hampshire, announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors: Doria Brown, energy manager, City of Nashua; Angie Miller, owner, Plymouth Soapworks and 2011 New Hampshire Teacher of the Year; and Tina Philibotte, chief equity officer of the Manchester School District. Executive Director Will Stewart said each new board member "brings new knowledge, skills, and experiences that strengthen the mission." (Manchester Ink Link)
