ReGen Valley Tech Hub, New Hampshire Housing and Greater Manchester Chamber to Host Regional Housing Summit

"Building Solutions for ReGen Valley Tech Hub: A Regional Housing Summit" will take place May 12 at University of New Hampshire Manchester

Manchester, NH – The ReGen Valley Tech Hub is teaming up with New Hampshire Housing and the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce to confront one of New Hampshire’s most urgent challenges: access to affordable, attainable housing. Together, the three organizations will convene “Building Solutions for ReGen Valley Tech Hub: A Regional Housing Summit” on May 12 at the University of New Hampshire Manchester bringing leaders from government, industry, and community organizations together to address the housing shortage that is increasingly limiting workforce growth, economic development, and New Hampshire’s ability to attract and retain talent.

Featuring a series of panel discussions, the event will bring together leaders from state and local government, housing, finance, and economic development, including representatives from the University of New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the City of Manchester, and the New Hampshire Business and Industry Association, among others. New Hampshire is facing one of the most acute housing shortages in the nation. The median sale price of a single-family home reached $565,000 as of June 2025, a 68% increase since 2020, while household incomes rose by just 33% during the same period, according to NH Housing. Further, New Hampshire needs an estimated 23,500 additional housing units today and 90,000 by 2040. And, according to the New Hampshire Fiscal Policy Institute, to avoid being cost burdened – paying over 30% of income on monthly mortgage payments – a household would have needed to earn more than $158,000 in 2025, yet only about 30% of households in New Hampshire had incomes exceeding $150,000.

Access to housing has emerged as one of the most significant barriers to workforce growth across New Hampshire, particularly for advanced manufacturing, healthcare, and technology sectors that are driving the state’s economic future.

“While the ReGen Valley Tech Hub and our consortium members are focused on breaking new ground in biomanufacturing and biofabrication, we are equally committed to building the foundation for a stronger, healthier workforce,” said Jennifer MacDonald, Chief Operating Officer, ARMI, BioFabUSA. “Without housing for the people driving this mission forward, our ability to grow the regional economy and deliver life-saving therapies simply cannot be realized. In partnership with NH Housing, we are working to expand the availability of quality, commutable, affordable workforce housing across New Hampshire.”
