Community Update

We have all been the victim of the "dressing room" experieince....you know, that dress you saw on a mannequin in a store that looked beyond fabulous, but once you tried it on, it made you look like you were wearing a potato sack and thick in the middle? That's the same thing that can happen with nail shapes. Not every shape looks best on every nail type, so, much like fashion, it is better to figure out what works for you instead of following the latest trend. To make your life a little easier, we compiled a list popular nail shapes, along with which one you should be sporting to make your manicure look  magnificent:

Because it makes the nail bed look thinner, this works best on wide nails, as well as those with short nails because it is simple to maintain.

OVAL NAILS:

For those with curved nail beds, an oval shape adds length to the fingers.

SQUARE NAILS:

Perhaps the most popular among nail shapes, the square nail is ideal for those with wide nails. It is also an ideal shape for a French manicure

SQUOVAL NAILS:

The "squoval" shape also works for those with wide nail beds, offering the best of both worlds by combining both the square and oval benefits.

ALMOND NAILS:

This style, which makes fingers look long and lean, has a pointed tip that works well on acrylic nails and extensions.

STILETTO/EDGE NAILS:

The most extreme of all shapes, this look isn't for the shy. Attention will definitely be drawn with this exaggerated shape that works best for bold women looking to make a statement.
