For 5th year, Y partners with Kieran's Kovers to collect blankets for homeless

Blanket Drive runs through Dec. 31

For the fifth year, the YMCA of Greater Nashua is helping Kieran Hummer, a sixth grade student at Presentation of Mary Academy, collect new and gently used blankets. So far through his YMCA blanket drive, we have collected over 1000 blankets! His Mom, Marion Hummer, says "Kiernan loves this project! We actually handed out some blankets this past few days while in New York City to people on the streets, and then to a soup kitchen what we had left. It was really an incredible experience to fulfill Kieran's true reason behind beginning Kieran's Kovers. Although he has handed them out at the Nashua Soup Kitchn and Shelter, he always hopes some make it to people actually living on the streets. I think watching him do that was the best thing since he asked to do this back in 1st grade!”

Kieran donates all blankets collected to the Nashua Soup Kitchen. Additionally, his family takes some to New York City and distributes them at The Coalition for the homeless around Christmastime.

If you can help with the blanket drive, please bring a blanket (or a few!) to the large collection boxes located in the YMCA lobbies in Nashua (24 Stadium Drive) and Merrimack (5 Henry Clay Drive). This drive will run now through December 31.
