Alleged Merrimack Strangler Arrested on Numerous Charges
Andrew Darling was arrested during the weekend on gun threat, vandalism, assault, and other charges, and was held on $50,000 cash bail.

MERRIMACK, NH — A local man was scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday after an alleged assault and threat incident in town on Saturday morning, according to police. Andrew Darling, 24, of Merrimack, was arrested On Jan. 28, 2017, and charged with second-degree assault, two counts of simple assault, criminal restraint, two counts of reckless conduct, criminal threatening, and criminal mischief.

At just after 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, police were sent to a local residence for a report of a past tense domestic assault. Officers met with a female who alleged that she was assaulted by Darling, according to Sgt. Cassell of the Merrimack Police Department.

“She went on to describe a series of assaults, which included being choked and also being threatened with a handgun,” Cassell alleged. “Merrimack Police could not locate Andrew Darling in town and later learned that he traveled to Manchester.”
Manchester Police was called and they located him a short time later, according to police. Darling was arrested and transported back to Merrimack for processing.

Due to the severity of the allegations, he was held on $50,000 cash bail, with an arraignment scheduled for Monday.
