Amherst Road Culvert Work Begins Today
DPW alerts neighbors and area residents to Amherst Road detour.

The $360,000 Amherst Road culvert project begins today and it will require traffic restrictions.
The Merrimack Department of Public Works reports that the job will involve daily traffic restrictions to one lane for most of the project, and a complete road closure for 10 calendar days, beginning on Aug. 1.
The project targets replacing four corrugated metal culverts that cross the road with a precast concrete box culvert. It also includes upgrading the guardrail and adjusting the road profile to improve public safety of travelers.

On Friday and on Monday, July 30, there is to be a planned water shut-off to allow for the installation of the box culvert. On those days, water will be shut off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The scope of the residents affected by the water shut-off include those with MVD water service on Amherst Road between Meetinghouse Road and Lester Road, and the residents on Riverside Drive, Davidson Avenue, and Piedmont Avenue, according to the town.
