Local Police, State Police, US Marshals Search For Suspect That Fled In Merrimack

MERRIMACK, NH — A massive law enforcement search is currently active in Merrimack after a wanted individual escaped into a wooded area following an attempted arrest Monday afternoon.

The pursuit began in the Home Depot parking lot on Mallard Lane when officers recognized a man with outstanding warrants. When officers attempted to make contact, the suspect fled on foot, disappearing into the dense brush bordering the shopping center.

The suspect law enforcement is searching for is Joshua Corbett, born in 1989.

Corbett was wanted for a hit-and-run accident in Nashua that involved serious personal injuries.

Nashua police said there is currently no information indicating the suspect is armed. He does have an extensive criminal history, including being involved in pursuits with police.

A heavy police presence quickly descended on the area and established a perimeter around the adjacent neighborhoods.

Law enforcement was utilizing K-9 units and aerial drones to sweep the terrain. Much of the activity has centered on the residential area behind Joey Road, where neighbors reported a significant influx of tactical officers and cruisers.

Sources indicate that the individual has an extensive criminal history and is well known to law enforcement agencies throughout Southern New Hampshire.

As of Monday evening, the suspect remains at large. Residents in the surrounding neighborhoods are encouraged to keep their doors locked and report any suspicious activity.

Merrimack police have stated that the investigation is fluid.
