Are NH's Seniors Ready for College?

New report: only 43 % of test-takers nationwide achieved SAT readiness benchmark.

Only 43 percent of college-bound seniors achieved the SAT benchmark for readiness, according to a report out Sept. 24 by the College Board.

It does not carve out a comparison for New Hampshire students, but it does offer a glimpse at College and Career Readiness for 2012. Mean SAT scores for New Hampshire was 71 percent for public schools and 75 percent for all schools, based on participation rate.

The College Board report indicated that of the 11,584 students in New Hampshire taking the SAT in 2012, 9,072 sent their scores to colleges or universities. The top 10 institutions receiving scores were:

  1. University of New Hampshire, Durham, 4,428 (*# of students sending scores)
  2. Keene State College, 2,056
  3. Plymouth State University, 1,742
  4. Northeastern University, 1,136
  5. University of Vermont, 1,125
  6. University of Massachusetts, Amherst, 758
  7. Boston University, 747
  8. Southern New Hampshire University, 722
  9. University of Rhode Island, 705
  10. University of Connecticut, 686
