Bloomingdales to be Another Anchor at Outlets

Bloomingdale's becomes the second largest store announced thus far.

The second largest planned outlet store thus far announced itself in a press release Wednesday, according to New Hampshire Business Review.

Bloomingdales, an upscale department store owned by Macy's Inc., will open a 25,000 square foot store at the Merrimack Premium Outlets late this spring with the more than 100-store retail center is scheduled to open.

Second in size only to Sak's Fifth Avenue's OFF 5th 28,000 square foot store, Bloomingdales "will offer a range of apparel and accessories, including women's ready-to-wear, men's, children's, women's shoes, fashion accessories, jewelry, handbags and intimate apparel," according to NHBR.

"Bloomingdale's rolled out its outlet concept in 2010, one of which opened this past fall at the Wrentham Premium Outlets," the NHBR story said. "Bloomingdale's Outlets offer the upscale brands sold at its department stores at discounts of 35 to 70 percent off retail prices."

Last week that had been given permits to build at the outlet center, including Nike, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic and Coach. Another 15 have applied for their "fit up" permits but Mike Currier, who serves as the head of the town's building department, said those store names won't be released until the permits have been approved.
