Passage of Obama Care on Thursday, June 28, 2012, is a date that will live in infamy. Mark it in history that our government, we the people, gave up any pretense to the phrase “an open and free society.” Our government has now declared there is nothing they cannot make us buy. Make no mistake this is about forcing people to buy something and taxing them more and more to do it. We have strayed so far from a limited form of government we may have “jumped the shark” (look up Happy Days Fonzi reference).
My only comfort comes from the following anecdote: During the American Revolution 1/3 of the people were with the British, 1/3 sided with the Patriots and the remaining 1/3 didn’t give a darn. I believe strongly that these figures are alive and well today. Well, I am here to tell you that I do give a darn and I have always picked sides and that side is conservative Republican.
Limited government isn’t just a phrase; it should have real meaning to politicians who ultimately will create policy decisions affecting all of us. Conservatives understand that limited government will reflect more freedom in our society and a culture that will promise more opportunity. More opportunity will generally produce a better life and having money is part of that better life. “Money may not buy happiness but it sure does help” is not just a cliché – it happens to be true. The more of it we keep in our pockets the better off we are. The success or failure of the middle class depends on the financial strengths of that class. What is happening all around us today is a constant attack on that success. That unrelenting attack on our individual freedom to choose (like choosing what to buy or not buy) will ultimately lead to the demise of the middle class.

Freedom to choose is the essence of freedom. Limiting choices never leads to successful outcomes. I hope we are not too late
Hopefully, June 28, 2012, is the day you chose a side if you had not already. One-third of the people cheered that day, they are happy that the government wants to tell them what to do and when to do it. One-third of the people were repulsed that the Supreme Court validated the government’s intrusion into our lives. Hopefully, the final 1/3 of the people will start giving a darn on Primary Day and General Election Day, Sept. 11 and Nov. 6, 2012. Mark down the dates, our future is at stake.
