It Gets Better: Sharing My Continuing Experiences as an Adult With Asperger Syndrome

My advice for AS teens, young adults and adults on the spectrum on how to get by and thrive in the Neurotypical world, from the perspective of an adult "Aspie."

As an adult with Asperger Syndrome, I've experienced so much in my life, and there's so much more to come. I borrowed the tagline "it gets better" from a popular online movement aimed primarily at LBGTQ teens; however, I feel that this same phrase can be used to empower people with Asperger Syndrome, whether they were diagnosed as children or as adults (I was 28 when I got mine).

As "Aspies," we face unique challenges everyday: how to socialize with others, interpret non-verbal cues, handle anxious situations and keeping our self-esteem high. The good news is that we don't need to do it alone. I'm writing this blog to share the valuable knowledge I've gained as a woman on the spectrum: the good as well as the not-so-good. I want Aspies to know that they're not alone. This is my first intro into the blog world, and I'm excited!
