The USA had Douglas and Raisman in this completion. They were head to head with the two Russian gymnasts, Mustafina and Komova. I really was a fight between the four women for the three medals. Raisman struggled with bars and a had a few miss steps on the beam. Mustafina also had trouble on the beam. This allowed Gabby Douglas to maintain a hold on the first place position after three rotations. It all came down the the fourth and final event, the floor.
Going in China's, Deng Linlin could push Ally Raisman out of the medal run by only ten thousands of a point. Her floor routine was good but easily beatable by Raisman. Mustafina was very elegant with some deductions. Enough to possibly take her out of the medal run. Gabby Douglas, once again nailed it! Her floor routine was so much fun to watch getting better and better with each pass. Setting her up for the gold with two more gymnasts to go. Ally Raisman came out big and had a minor deduction on her first run. Her final score tied with Mustafina. Komova came last the only one who could knock Douglas out of first. This was her best floor routine in London. However, it just wasn't good enough to take out Gabby Douglas! After the tie was decided Ally Raisman just missed the bronze. Gabby's infamous smile was beaming through the packed stadium as Team USA was cheered on!
